Patient Confidence in the COVID-19 Vaccines: How Healthcare Personnel Can Address Vaccine Hesitancy

Summary: Healthcare personnel can have a powerful influence on patients’ decisions when they communicate openly about vaccines. Building confidence in the COVID-19 vaccines is an important part of ending the pandemic. This webinar aimed to help staff at I/T/Us communicate about vaccines more effectively with patients. The presenter:
• articulated a strong recommendation for a vaccine
• advocated for dropping the pamphlet approach
• demonstrated the four steps to take with vaccine hesitancy.

- the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination program
- the safety and effectiveness of the three vaccines that were currently authorized under EUA (Emergency Use Authorization)
- ways to communicate with healthcare personnel and patients about the benefits and risks of receiving COVID-19 vaccination.
